too many letters

I just put all of the following in my profile and exceeded the limit. Just let me count the letters and I will sort it out.

"The dog and I share a lot in common. In this blog, I talk through him a bit. I'm just looking for somewhere to say a bit and I guess that this is as good a spot as anywhere. As in my first post, the old blue dog is 12, going on 13 in April 2006. He has been a true and faithful friend for all of those years. I don't know how long he will be around, but he has been living at home (really a dog retirement home) for the past three years and is really thriving with less running and just genrally taking it more easy. He looks very well and for the first time in his life is actually putting on weight.

He is an Australian Cattle Dog. They are usually blue or red and he is blue. It's actually a mix of white hair and dark hair but looks bluey/grey. It's also called blue merle. He has tan/ginger paws, chest and jowls and on the inside of his legs as well. It all complements the blue well and there are small patches of white throughout. He is from working stock and that is the reason he is such a tough little bugger. Like a cat, he has had many live and I don't think he has many left.

In addition to the old dog, we have a younger pure bred bitch that is 8 years old. She is basically a loveable fool. She is clumbsy, akward and a bit soft, but has a heart of gold. where the old dog doesn't care for food, this old girl will eat anything she can get her mouth around. She has had hind leg troubles for all of her life but has compensated by being very powerful in her front legs and shoulders.

Typical cattle dogs they are both stick and ball-a-holics and swim like fish. Generally they are great to have aroung and are very faithful and territorial of the home patch."

1st entry

Well, I'm just setting this thing up and thought that I would try the email post approach.

The old dog is feeling the heat lately as the days have been warm and humid. Its lucky that he gets to spent a fair bit of time inside with the aircon on.

Actually he has been quite spritely lately. al ot of energy. Life is really agreeing with him.

A bit of history about the old blue dog while I am going along here. I would like to post this info in a description box, but I haven't found one yet. The old dog came to us as a 6 week old pup in 1994. I bought him out of the local paper for $50 and I pretty well had the pick of the litter. The litter and mum were hiding under the house where I picked him up from. Eventually we got them all out so i could have a look. I was after a dog and not a bitch, so that narrowed the field down somewhat. Bluedogs have a tendancy to have black patches over one or both eyes. I was looking for one that had none and also had even markings. I recall that i had 2 or 3 to choose from. I had been told once that if you lift a pups back legs off the ground and they don't make a sound then they are apretty content and happy animal. So I lift a few tails and one dog didn't make a sound. Hello dog of mine. Welcome to the fold. I picked up a kitten on the way home and took them both into a hospital in a box to show the rest of the family. 12 years ago, boy time flies.
